We are proud to announce the official start of SafeSwim – A Safe Kid is a Happy Kid!, a new project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Sport programme of the European Union, dedicated to making swimming and sport safer for children and young athletes.

Launched in December 2025, SafeSwim is a 12-month Small-Scale Partnership (ERASMUS-SPORT-2025-SSCP) that brings together four organisations from three countries to strengthen safeguarding practices in sport — protecting children physically, mentally, and emotionally in every training environment.

What SafeSwim is about

Across Europe there is a growing need for structured child-protection systems in sport, especially for those working directly with children. SafeSwim responds to this by building the capacity of coaches, trainers, and sports professionals to prevent, recognise, and respond to safeguarding risks.

Our main objectives:

  • Train coaches and sports professionals as certified Child Safeguarding Officers (CSOs)

  • Deliver three international safeguarding workshops in Croatia, Turkey, and Slovenia

  • Cooperate with National Olympic Committees to align safeguarding with recognised standards

  • Promote a safer, more inclusive culture in sport across Europe

The partnership

  • PK Zagreb (Croatia) — Coordinator

  • DSR SuperKid (Croatia) — Partner

  • ŠD Partizan Sevnica (Slovenia) — Partner

  • LIDOSK (Turkey) — Partner & Dissemination lead

What comes next

Over the next 12 months, SafeSwim will roll out its training activities, certify safeguarding officers, and share its results with the wider sports community. Follow our news page to stay up to date with every step.
